AJaeCea (JC) works across photography, sculpture, performance, writing, science and biotechnology. Their practice centers on process and integrates critical studies, activism, education, literature, circular design, and community collaboration. They transform discarded objects and develop biomaterials to engage contemporary social and political issues. Their process is rooted in environmental and species regeneration rather than extraction and depletion. They are currently working on projects for The World Resources Institute, United Nations’ Oceans division, and building a comprehensive biomaterial library and archive of their work. AJaeCea received their BFA in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA in Photo/Media & Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts.
AJaeCea Carlie x Luisa Pinzón are transdisiplinary artists working through hybrid practices. They are exploring environmental care, interspecies relationships, alternative forms of knowledge, communal healing, immigration, and queer transgender disabled experiences.
